Mahindra has hiked the price of the XUV700, even before a single delivery has been made to any customer. The Indian carmaker opened bookings for the SUV on its website on the morning of October 7, and received 25,000 orders in just 57 minutes.

The introductory prices of the vehicles were only applicable on the first 25,000 units, and thus Mahindra had to stop taking bookings. It will already take six months to deliver the already-booked SUVs, and Mahindra has now hiked prices for the next 25,000 units of the XUV700. Bookings for the second batch will commence at 10AM on October 8. Take a look at the new prices below:

As you can see from the table above, the prices of the XUV700 have been hiked anywhere from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The lower variants have seen a more substantial increase than its higher variants. These prices will be applicable for the next 25,000 bookings, and seeing how quickly the first batch was booked, we only expect these prices to be applicable for a day or two.

Once this batch is over, the prices at the time of delivery will be applicable.

The XUV700’s waiting period is also expected to shoot up soon, in part because of the current disruptions in global supply chains caused by the semiconductor shortage.

Once the XUV700’s price is hiked once more, we expect it to be similar to the Tata Safari, its closest rival. Other cars that the XUV700 competes against are the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
