Mahindra has given its rugged Bolero a model year (MY) update for 2025. Priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 9.69 lakh for the Bolero, the changes do not affect the core mechanicals or safety equipment. Instead, Mahindra has worked on cosmetic tweaks and certain convenience features to keep its iconic SUV up-to-date in the current competitive market. Here are the five major changes you should be aware of.
Visually, not much has changed since this is a model year update. Mahindra has added a bold new Stealth Black paint job along with Silver, Beige and White. This is in addition to new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which makes the car look more modern. Even the grille receives a minor change to keep things fresh. The profile and rear remain similar while retaining the utilitarian boxy body style.

Inside, the Bolero receives upgrades that are easily noticeable. Leatherette seats replace fabric in higher variants, lifting the ambience. A dash of practicality has also been brought with the introduction of door bolted bottle holders. Apart from that, it remains largely similar to the standard car.

To improve daily use, the Bolero now comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls and Type-C USB charging ports. In addition to that, it comes with existing features such as manual AC, power windows, semi-digital instrument cluster and remote lock / unlock.
On the safety front, no changes have been made and the Bolero continues with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. We feel Mahindra should have added six airbags and electronic stability control, considering safety is an important quotient.

Mahindra has played it safe under the hood. The Bolero retains the familiar 1.5-litre diesel engine, which produces 75 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque. All of that is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra has claimed to have tweaked the suspension for better ride and handling, but that’s something we can comment on once we get our hands on the Bolero.
Mahindra now offers the Bolero in four broad variants: B4, B6, B6 (O) and B8 (new). Prices of the Mahindra Bolero range from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, the Bolero doesn’t have any direct rivals, but you can consider it as a more utilitarian option to sub-4 metre SUVs such as Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Brezza.

Quite frankly, this update for the Mahindra Bolero is welcome. While its strength, ruggedness, and durability remain intact, it only improves the convenience and cosmetic styling in certain areas. However, in a rapidly growing market where rivals aggressively refresh their safety and tech regularly, we believe these tweaks are too little, too late.
Are these five updates enough to keep the Bolero competitive in 2025? Let us know your take in the comments section below.
