The Mahindra Bolero is India's longest-running and most iconic SUV, and it is soon to enter a new chapter. Mahindra has teased the MY 2025 Bolero facelift ahead of its expected imminent launch. The updates are expected to bring sharper looks, an updated interior, and probably some enhanced safety features.
Mahindra has gone for a conservative, evolutionary touch to Bolero's design. The facelift will retain the square, boxy form that people associate with ruggedness and authenticity. At the front, it gets a new grille with revised slats and carries Mahindra's Twin Peaks logo. The bumpers are expected to be more chiselled and brawny, accompanied by reinforced body cladding that supports the SUV's tough posture.

Side and rear makeovers will likely be less radical. One confirmed update is the inclusion of alloy wheels. The image-defining tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a visual marker at the core of Bolero's personality, will stay. But subtle refinements to the tail lamps, neater panel lines, and subtle detailing should make the SUV look more streamlined without alienating purists who love its traditional shape.
We are yet to see the cabin of the updated Bolero. But one can expect minor tweaks to the design to give it a breath of fresh air. Mahindra could also introduce new upholstery colours as well. One can also expect it to come with some additional features, which is what we’ll be talking about next.
We expect the updated Mahindra Bolero to come with a touchscreen infotainment system and a few other convenience features. The safety suite of the SUV could also receive a significant upgrade, including up to six airbags as standard, seatbelt reminders across all rows, and electronic stability control on higher trims, all of which will make the Bolero even more in line with today's safety norms.

Under the bonnet, Mahindra is sticking to a tested formula. The Bolero facelift will feature the 1.5-litre, three-cylinder mHawk diesel engine churning out around 76 PS and 210 Nm of torque. The engine has a 5-speed manual gearbox, providing a mix of tugging capability and economy. With a reputation for ample mid-range torque and rugged performance in challenging conditions, the mHawk remains perfectly suited to the Bolero's demeanor.

Fuel efficiency should remain the same as in the existing model, approximately 16–17 kmpl (ARAI-approved). For Bolero's core target, who likes the simplest, most durable, and most long-term cost-effective vehicle, the diesel-first policy remains the most practical choice.
While Mahindra is yet to unveil the variant range, it is likely to have a three-trim range similar to the current B4, B6, and B6 (O) grades. The lower trims will continue to prioritise practicality, with steel wheels and basic equipment, while the fully loaded trims will offer the likes of the touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels, and better safety features.
The facelifted Bolero can be priced between Rs 8.9 lakh and Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom), which will make it value for money, a tough SUV with an offbeat mix of retro ruggedness and modern convenience.
Rather than reinventing a classic, Mahindra has chosen to refine it. The facelift will build on decades of trust with exterior updates, a more modern, well-appointed cabin, and improved safety, ensuring the SUV remains both relevant and reliable in today’s fast-evolving market.
