Starting off from the exterior of the new Venue, you now get an edgier and sharper look than the outgoing version. At the front, it carries the Hyundai family look with a rectangular grille with dark chrome inserts and vertically-stacked quad-beam LED headlamps on the sides. There is also a thicker skid plate on the bottom edge as well while just like the Alcazar and Creta, it also gets a connected LED light bar with sequential indicators at the top. Notably, it also features functional air vents on the edges of headlamps as well as a signature C-shape for the DRLs.

Moving on to the side profile, the Venue gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloys and muscular front and rear fenders for a ‘tough’ visual effect. The roof rails are now more prominent, and there is a unique silver insert on the C-pillar with the ‘Venue’ motif on it, inspired by the Creta.
Towards the rear, the taillamp cluster is now housed inside the connected taillamp setup, which also gets a 3D ‘Venue’ badge and a larger roof spoiler to give an upmarket feel. Just like the front, you also get a thick faux skid plate here as well.

Hyundai has announced that the Venue will be available in 5 monotone shades- Hazel Blue, Abyss Black, Titan Grey, Atlas White and Dragon Red, while the latter three can also be configured in a dual-tone paint scheme with a black roof for added measure.
Inside the new Venue, you find a brand-new interior layout, which comes finished in a two-tone Dark Navy and Dove Grey colour scheme. There is a completely new dashboard with a two-screen curved display taking the centre stage. The central AC vents now carry a slim design, while there is also an updated centre console and a new AC control panel, along with a ‘Terazzo’-textured insert on the passenger side of the dashboard. It also gets a new steering wheel with a chunkier design and the Hyundai ‘Morse-code’ logo, which has made its way to an Indian-made Hyundai for the first time.

Rear occupants in the new Venue will be delighted to know that it now gets a 20mm longer wheelbase, which should translate into a more roomy cabin. Hyundai has also given the Venue a 2-step reclining backrest for the rear seat, rear sunshades and dedicated AC vents with Type-C charging ports for the rear seat passengers as well.
In terms of the equipment, the Venue is a feature-loaded SUV with a list that includes dual 12.3-inch screens for the touchscreen infotainment and digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, voice-activated electric sunroof, wireless charger, ambient lighting, auto headlamps, an 8-speaker BOSE sound system and ventilated front seats.
As for the safety tech onboard, it gets a Level 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, 360 degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.

Under the hood, the new Venue is offered with the same engines, including a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the NA Petrol can be had with a 5-speed manual transmission only, the turbo petrol and diesel engines get a 6-speed manual transmission with automatic gearbox options as well. Here are the detailed specifications of all the powertrains:
|
1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol |

1.5-litre diesel |

The new Venue competes with other sub-4-metre SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Brezza and Kia Syros.

The Venue has always been a very competitive option for the segment and offered a lot for the money, but let’s be honest, it was starting to feel a bit dated. With this new generation, Hyundai now has all the ammunition to take on the fierce competition. Stay tuned to ZigWheels for our in-depth first drive review of the new Venue, which will be coming soon.
