At the power-packed unveil event of the new Seltos, Kia also revealed that it will start taking bookings for the compact SUV from today, which will be offered with the following powertrain options:
1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with a 6-speed manual and CVT
1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT
1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT
If you are one of the many interested buyers eagerly waiting to bring yours home, you are going to have to wait till the launch on January 2, 2026 for official confirmation of the prices. That said, here is our take on what they could be like:
Till now, the most popular engine of the Seltos and one that will keep most buyers happy, is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, which makes 115 PS and 144 Nm. This combination is available in 10 variants, which could stack up as below:

As you can see above, the entry-level Seltos NA Petrol is only offered with the 6-speed manual transmission and could start at a competitive price of Rs 11.2 lakh(ex-showroom), undercutting rivals like the Tata Sierra. However, on the other hand, the higher GT-Line and X-Line variants are only offered with a IVT automatic transmission and go all the way up till Rs 21 lakh(ex-showroom), which could still make for an interesting proposition for buyers wanting the full list of features, but without the extra performance of the turbo-petrol.
Next up, is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is oriented towards enthusiasts who want to go all the way. Working with this engine, is a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or a 7-speed DCT transmission that Kia has offered, which together produce 160PS and 253Nm. This powertrain gets 9 variants:

The Seltos’ turbo-petrol lineup is getting expanded by a huge margin, from just 3 variants, to 9! With the turbo-petrol motor being offered in the HTE Opt trim as well, we expect it to be much more accessible than before. That said, buyers will surely have more choice of variants to pick from, and at a premium of just about a lakh extra, the top-end X-Line A Turbo-DCT trim could be tempting for customers of the top-end X-Line NA Petrol CVT. Let’s just say that the Seltos is one of the more popular picks with diesel buyers in the segment, and with a powerful, refined and frugal nature, it still makes a lot of sense for owners with high usage and those who spend a large chunk of their driving time on the highways. The legacy of this powertrain continues with the second generation Seltos, which is offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 116PS and 250Nm, and comes paired to 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions. It is offered in 10 variants:

Kia still wants to cater to the lower-end of the market by offering the Seltos Diesel with the base HTE variant, which could come at the competitive price of Rs 12.2 lakh(ex-showroom). With that in place, customers for the oil burner will, too, have a wide option of variants to pick from likely ranging till Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). Those wanting the convenience of an AT at a lower price point will also be happy, as the HTE Opt trim could offer it at a competitive price of Rs 13.7 lakh as opposed to the outgoing Seltos, whose most affordable Diesel AT option is the HTX variant priced at Rs 16.62 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Seltos offers a lot, and with an even wider range of variants to choose from, buyers can be assured to find the optimum blend of features and affordability, which they desire. If you are looking to pick up the new Seltos, we suggest booking one soon given that initial delivery slots could be limited.
