All You Need To Know About The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Ahead Of Its Unveil Tomorrow

Volkswagen is all set to unveil the Taigun facelift tomorrow, marking its first major update since launch. Over the years, the Taigun has carved a niche for itself as a fun-to-drive and well-built compact SUV, and this update aims to build on those strengths rather than completely change the formula.

The facelifted Taigun brings subtle design tweaks, more features and a few key mechanical updates. Ahead of its official debut tomorrow, here’s everything you need to know about it:

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Exterior

The Taigun facelift retains its overall silhouette, with its upright stance, flat bonnet and strong shoulder line remaining unchanged. Up front, the SUV gets new headlamp clusters with a curvier design, along with a reworked bumper that features black inserts. It also gets a slimmer grille with a full-width LED light bar and an illuminated logo for a distinct look. The updated front design now looks more in line with Volkswagen’s newer SUVs, like the Tiguan R-Line and Tayron R-Line.

From the side, changes are minimal, but the facelift introduces a new design for the alloy wheels, which freshens up the profile. Besides this it retain chrome accents on door handles, sharp creases on the body and prominent roof rails.

At the rear, the Taigun continues with its familiar shape, but gets reworked detailing for the connected LED tail lamps, along with an illuminated logo. It could also see a revised bumper with sleeker proportions as well. 

Notably, Volkswagen partially revealed the SUV yesterday, and we can also see some exclusive sporty touches in the GT trims besides these two new colour options which will be a part of a revised colour palette.

Inside the cabin, the overall layout is expected to remain similar, but with the addition of several new features.

Updates could include a larger digital instrument cluster and an updated touchscreen infotainment system. Other expected additions include a panoramic sunroof and a rear seat massaging function, which would be a big upgrade over the current model. You can also expect to see new colour schemes inside.

In terms of the equipment list, the new Taigun is likely to feature a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with AI assistant, rear seat massager and a panoramic sunroof as noteworthy additions. These would be available in addition to existing features such as 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, wireless charger and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the safety front, it is likely to continue with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera and all-wheel disc brakes. 

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Powertrains

The Taigun facelift will be powered by a choice of 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. However, a major change could come in the form of a new 8-speed AT, replacing the current car’s 6-speed unit on the 1-litre engine. Here are the expected specifications of the updated SUV:

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will continue with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as the sole gearbox option.

2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Expected Price And Rivals

Prices for the Taigun facelift are likely to range between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, the Taigun facelift will continue to rival compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, Citroen Aircross and the MG Astor.
