
2025 Skoda Kodiaq - Logical Luxury SUV Minus The Badge

While 2025 started with a bang thanks to the Auto Expo where plenty of cars were launched as well as showcased, February and March were relatively quieter with automakers focusing on model year updates. In April, however, some very exciting new launches are lined up! From a mass-market EV from an iconic Indian automaker to a performance-oriented SUV from a renowned German marque, the list is almost as diverse as our Indian culture.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the upcoming cars:
Expected Price: From Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom)
The highly anticipated Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will finally arrive in the month of April, after being fully revealed in the month of January. If you want to check out the electric SUV in person, you can go to your nearest Maruti dealership as the EV has already started arriving at the Nexa dealerships. Set to take on the Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV, the E Vitara offers a well-rounded package with a focus on practicality.
Top features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a panoramic sunroof, a 10-way powered driver seat, a wireless phone charger, 7 airbags and a suite of ADAS features. The e Vitara will be offered with 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery pack options, offering a claimed range of more than 500 km.
The Maruti e Vitara is going to be an important product for the Indian market, since it is the first EV from Maruti, and also an attempt to see how Indians adapt to EVs. It will be interesting to see how the Indian market reacts to this product.
Expected Price: Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom)
Enthusiasts, this one’s for you! The Volkswagen Tiguan in its new generation is all set to hit the Indian roads on April 14, 2025. What’s better is that it will be launching in the R-Line version which sports performance-oriented design elements and a sporty interior. Top features include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, an 8-speaker audio system, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a 3-zone automatic climate control, and 30-colour ambient lighting.
It will be powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which makes 204 PS and 320 Nm. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed DCT.
The Tiguan R-Line will cater to the needs of youth with its aggressive styling and performance-driven attributes, while offering a practical and spacious cabin for family use.
Expected Price: Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom)
The 2025 Kia Carens facelift will likely be launched in India by the end of April. The midlife makeover will provide design changes and a more premium interior with top-notch features. The top design updates will include redesigned LED DRLs, updated alloy wheels, a revised front bumper, and refreshed LED tail lights. The interior is likely to get a new dashboard layout and features such as dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and much more!
The 2025 Carens will likely continue with the same engine options, including two petrol powertrains and a single diesel option.
It has been confirmed that the facelifted Carens is likely to be launched with a new name, and the updated model will be sold alongside the pre-facelift version. The Carens has created a market of its own, and contributed massively to the rise of MPVs in recent years.
Expected Price: Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom)
Another European SUV on the list! Skoda has confirmed the launch of the new-generation Kodiaq in India by the end of April. It is likely to be priced from Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom) and is expected to be available in two variants. The exterior design changes are not major, but the interior receives a complete redesign. Top features include a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, seat ventilation and heating, and powered front seats.
The 2025 Kodiaq is likely to be powered by a 204 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed DCT and an all-wheel-drive system.
The Kodiaq is a key SUV for Skoda in India, and the new-generation model will look to build on that with a more desirable package. Its 7-seater layout with a more luxurious cabin will be a key factor in attracting buyers.
Expected Price: Rs 46 lakh (ex-showroom)
Globally unveiled in October 2024, the new-generation 2-Series is expected to be launched in India in April. The new version of the entry-level Bimer comes with significant design changes, including a tweaked kidney grille, updated 18-inch alloy wheels and tweaked LED taillights.
The cabin, to,o gets a refresh, with the top amenities including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, powered front-row seats and multi-color ambient lighting. The India-spec model is expected to retain the current 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2-litre diesel engine choices.

What’s interesting is that all these models cater to a different audience! The e Vitara will mark Maruti’s entry into the EV segment, while SUVs like the Kodiaq and Tiguan R-Line will provide a different flavour in the Rs 50 lakh SUV segment!
With the start of the new fiscal year, automakers will look to find ways of boosting the sales and one can expect some interesting launches and updates as well. All the cars mentioned above are integral for the respective automakers in India, a complete new space for some and necessary updates for other cars to keep them relevant and important in their segment!
