2025 updated Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara launched at Rs 11.42 lakh (ex-showroom)
Comes with 6 airbags as standard
Gets new variants, and new features including an 8-way powered driver seat, an electronic parking brake, and an air purifier
Panoramic sunroof has been made more accessible
Strong hybrid powertrain can now be had from the mid-spec Delta+ variant onwards
Following the footsteps of Toyota as they updated the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti also made a move to introduce the 2025 model year updates for its premium compact SUV, the Grand Vitara. While the Grand Vitara always had the appeal, most of that appeal was in the higher-spec variants. With these updates, Maruti has not just added 6 airbags across all variants but also enhanced the mid-spec variants with more powertrain options and features.
Here’s a closer look at all the updates in detail:
Disclaimer: Do note that most of the images used in this article are of the 2024 model. They do not feature the updated alloys, however, rest of the design is same as the 2025 model.
The good news is that Maruti is slowly updating all its vehicles with 6 airbags across variants. Shortly after updating the entry-level Alto K10 and Celerio with the necessary safety suite, the Grand Vitara gets 6 airbags across all variants. Earlier, the Grand Vitara used to get 6 airbags from the mid-spec Zeta variant onwards.
Along with that, the fan-favorite panoramic sunroof feature has also been made more accessible as it is now available with several variants, including Zeta (O), Zeta+ (O), Alpha (O) and Alpha+ (O) variants. Earlier it was offered only with the top-spec Alpha variant in the non-hybrid version and from the Zeta+ variant in the hybrid version.
Apart from that, Maruti has also added new convenience and safety features, including an 8-way powered driver seat, a premium sound system by Clarion, an electronic parking brake, an air purifier, LED cabin lights and sunshades in the second row.
The exterior has also been updated slightly with a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. Everything else remains the same in the design department.
All other features remain unchanged. The top ones include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera.
Maruti Suzuki has also introduced a new Delta+ variant for the Grand Vitara. This variant comes with the strong hybrid powertrain which was earlier offered from the Zeta+ variant onwards. This becomes a great opportunity for those who want the capable hybrid powertrain while not really caring about the features a higher-spec variant would offer.
Maruti’s “ALLGRIP Select” technology, i.e. the AWD drivetrain, was earlier offered only with a 6-speed manual transmission, but now that is only available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices for the AWD variants now start from Rs 19.04 lakh, a healthy price increase of around Rs 2 lakh.
The Grand Vitara is now available in a total of 18 variants, with prices starting at Rs 11.42 lakh, an increment of Rs 23,000 from the previous starting price of Rs 11.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the updated model range up to Rs 20.68 lakh for the top-spec variant.
It competes with the likes of Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
Both the Hyryder and the Grand Vitara have been in the Indian-market for almost 3 years, and needed an update to remain relevant in the market. Now that they both have been updated, do you think they can compete with the rivals?
Would you pick the Grand Vitara over its rivals? Let us know in the comments section.
