To mark Nexa’s 10th anniversary, Maruti has rolled out a special Phantom Blaq Edition of the Grand Vitara. This edition is based on the top-spec strong-hybrid Alpha Plus variant, and prices are yet to be revealed. For the obvious, it gets an all-black theme but with a Matte Black exterior wrap and the existing black interior theme. If you’re eyeing this stealthier version of the popular Maruti compact SUV, bookings are underway.
Here are some more details about the Maruti Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq:
The front gets a full blackout treatment with a matte black wrap. The signature chrome elements are gone, now it gets a de-chromed look that makes the grille appear more aggressive. The headlamp housings and lower skid plate blend neatly with the all-dark styling.

The side profile remains largely unchanged, apart from the stealthy Matte Black paint job. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black, which pair well with the dark bodywork.
The rear continues the blackout theme with a matte black finish on the tailgate and bumper area. The chrome strip between the tail lamps is replaced with a darker element.
Step inside and you’ll find an all-black cabin complemented by the familiar, subtle champagne-golden inserts, along with leatherette upholstery.

Being based on the top variant, it carries ahead all the features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a powered driver seat, a wireless phone charger, and ventilated front seats. Safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability programme (ESP), and hill hold control.
This edition sticks with the strong-hybrid powertrain: a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine making 92 PS, paired with an electric motor producing 80 PS (combinedly 116 PS) and up to 141 Nm. It is mated to a CVT gearbox. The other variants of the regular Grand Vitara also get all-wheel drive and CNG options.
Dark edition SUVs have been a trend in the market for quite some time now. And Maruti has made sure that you do not feel left out if you’re out there for a Grand Vitara. Although the change is much in line with a stealthier appearance, the fact that it’s the first Maruti to get a matte finish makes it even more special. If you’ve been eyeing the strong-hybrid Alpha Plus and want something that turns heads without flashy chrome, this one might just be worth the wait.
