The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a significant product for the carmaker in India. Suzuki recently unveiled the next-gen 2024 Swift at the Japan Mobility Show. Following its official reveal, we are obtaining new details about it as it gets closer to launch. Engine Specifications

Suzuki offers the 2024 Swift with a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. This engine is available in two variants: one with standard petrol, and the other with a 12V mild-hybrid system. The Japan-spec model also comes with a choice of a 2-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive variants. However, we doubt  the 2024 Swift will be launched with all-wheel-drive in India. Compared to the current-gen Swift, the new mild-hybrid petrol powertrain produces less power and torque and is offered with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) as the automatic transmission choice.

Mileage Figures

Suzuki has also revealed the mileage figures for the 1.2-litre mild hybrid-petrol powertrain of the 2024 Swift. While the official fuel economy for the manual transmission variants has not been disclosed, you can find the mileage figures of the CVT variant in the table below.

In terms of fuel economy, the new mild-hybrid petrol powertrain paired with the CVT transmission delivers better fuel economy than the 1.2-litre petrol engine offered by the current Swift in India.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will command a premium over the current-gen Swift which starts from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected to launch sometime in 2024 and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Punch, while serving as a hatchback alternative to the Renault Triber.
