Audi’s flagship e-SUV, the Q8 e-tron, will be available in two body styles, both of which sport impressive range and performance figures

The new flagship from Audi’s electric range is going to land on our shores soon. It’s called the Q8 e-tron, and is  the facelifted version of the e-tron electric SUV/SUV-coupe. Apart from the revised name, it gets the basic facelift treatment which brings a bunch of styling tweaks to the exterior and interior. But what’s not so apparent are the updates to its battery packs, which improve its range rather significantly.

We’ve jotted down the details of all of its changes and powertrain upgrades here, but today is all about the EVs various driving modes, and the effect they have on its 0-100kmph acceleration times. Our chief editor Ameya Dandekar got to spend some time behind the wheel of the new electric SUV in its top-spec 55 guise with a 408PS (in boost) electric motor. So naturally, he had to launch the EV, which he did the usual way: hold on the brakes, release them and stomp on the gas simultaneously, but in different driving modes – Efficiency, Comfort, and Dynamic. You can watch him do the sprints in those respective driving modes here:

That was quick for a luxury family car! But the people with a knack for details will notice how the EV doesn’t tap into its full power arsenal in the efficiency and comfort modes. Only in the dynamic mode does it offer the full oomph, including the extra push from the boost mode, which essentially offers additional performance, albeit for a short duration of time.

In India, the Audi Q8 e-tron will come in the same two body styles as it used to – SUV and Sportback (SUV-coupe). It should be offered in the two trims – e-tron 50, and e-tron 55 – while the e-tron S is unlikely to make it to our shores.

Of course, the updates to the design and powertrain will carry a steeper price tag over the outgoing model that was already priced at a hefty Rs 1.02 crore (ex-showroom) onwards. It will continue to fend off the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW iX
