Mahindra Vision X Revealed – A New-gen XUV 3XO Concept highlights

Mahindra went all guns blazing in showcasing its four concept SUVs, one of which is the Vision X. Unlike the other three concepts, the Vision X looks more conventional and market-ready, with a design that is highly reminiscent of the existing XUV 3XO. In fact, its size also appears to remain within the sub-4-metre segment. You’ll likely see it in the market by mid-2028 to early 2029.

Let’s take a detailed look at the design breakdown of the Vision X.

Looks Futuristic XUV 3XO!

The overall design of the Vision X concept is very reminiscent of the XUV 3XO; however, it looks far more futuristic. The fascia is curvy and sculpted, with a sleeker-looking lighting setup. The blanked-off grille carries similar vertical slats to the 3XO. The rectangular, pixel-like headlamps and fog lamps are housed lower down in a V-shaped surround, much like the XEV 9e, while the LED DRLs give it character.

From the side, it looks stylish with a rugged-leaning theme. The dual-tone, gloss-black roof with black roof rails and the thick gloss-black cladding on the sides add contrast to the body colour. There is also fine silver detailing on the lower cladding. There’s a quirky, camera-based ORVM setup instead of traditional mirrors. It also gets stylish-looking dual-tone alloy wheels. The door handles are flush-fitted at the edges of the doors, and the rear door handle is hidden in the C-pillar.

In my opinion, this concept looks most stylish from the rear three-quarters. At the back, it gets a hidden-looking connected LED taillight, a roof-mounted spoiler with cool-looking stop-lamp elements shaped like shark fins, Vision X badging on the tailgate, and a silver skid plate below.

Step Inside

You’re welcomed by an all-black cabin theme. It gets a two-spoke steering wheel and two connected, floating displays. The rear seats aren’t visible in the images, but it would likely include a rear centre armrest.

ZigSays…

Honestly, the Vision X feels like Mahindra’s way of saying, ‘Yes, we can also do futuristic without going completely wild.’ It has that familiar XUV 3XO vibe, so it won’t alienate existing fans, but the sharper design makes it feel like it’s from a few years ahead. It seems Mahindra will surely bring over 90 percent of this design to the showroom floor, and it can stand out in the competitive sub-4 metre segment.
