New Prologue features the ‘Neo-Rugged’ design language.
Production-spec version will carry the ‘e:’ series nomenclature.
Details about powertrains yet to be released.
The SUV will go on sale in overseas markets in 2024.
Honda has released new images and details about the design of its upcoming EV in North America, the Prologue. The electric SUV will slot above the upcoming CR-V hybrid in the carmaker’s lineup overseas. There’s no word yet about its powertrains or arrival in India, but here’s a look at what we do know about the electric family SUV:

"Our goal was to create a clean harmony based on a rugged SUV image by coordinating the colours and materials to express neo-rugged design styling that’s familiar to our customers and uniquely Honda." – Masaki Sumimoto, design lead for Color, Materials and Finish at Honda
Designed at the Honda Design Studio in the US, the Prologue SUV features a new ‘Neo-Rugged’ design philosophy with a minimalist and clean aesthetic. It’s not radically designed like some other EVs but maintains a handsome look with familiar SUV proportions and an imposing stance.

The squat stance and relatively small C-pillar window makes it less apparent, at least in the pictures, how massive the Prologue really is. At 4.88 metres long, it sits between the Toyota Innova and MG Gloster in size. In fact, it’s wider than even the full-size Gloster by a full 63mm.

At the rear, the Prologue has a spelt-out ‘Honda’ logo instead of an ‘H’ badge. Its production version will follow the Honda ‘e:’ nomenclature and offer a unique North Shore Pearl paint shade inspired by Lake Tahoe in California.

Inside, the SUV will get two independently floating displays as standard, an 11-inch unit for the driver’s instrumentation and an 11.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment. The SUV features a clean design here, too, with chrome-lined air vents and a straight-edge design with premium materials, dual-tone cabin theme and panoramic sunroof.

The Honda Prologue will be launched in North America and other overseas markets in 2024. It’s too early to tell if it could be offered in India in the future, but if it does, it’ll likely compete with the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
