Exciting EVs That Are Coming To The Indian Shores And Deserve Your highlights

Electric vehicles or EVs are now available across various brands, body styles and price segments, giving all types of buyers what they want. While manufacturers like Tata, MG and Mahindra have really become top players in the EV space in India, there are also new foreign brands and a popular Indian automaker that are going to enter the EV market.

If you are looking for an EV and are not in a hurry to book the car, then these 7 exciting upcoming EVs might be options that you would want to consider.

Let’s begin…

Maruti e Vitara

The Maruti e Vitara is likely to be launched in September, and prices for the electric SUV could start from Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The e Vitara will be Maruti’s first EV, and hence will be a very important launch for the Indian marque. It sports a rugged design language with modern styling elements.

The interior has an upmarket feel to it with top-notch features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 10-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera system, and ADAS.

The e Vitara gets two battery options - a 48.8 kWh and a 61.1 kWh battery pack. The latter has a claimed range of over 500 km.

Kia Carens Clavis EV

Kia recently launched the ICE-powered Carens Clavis, and is now set to launch the EV version of the MPV as well. It will likely be introduced in July and could retail from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). While it will get the same silhouette as the regular Carens, EV-specific design bits will help it set itself apart. The interior could possibly get a slightly different colour scheme, but features like dual 12.3-inch displays, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS will be borrowed from the ICE sibling.

Details about its powertrain specifications are yet to be disclosed, but we know that it will likely offer around 500 km of range.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata will be launching the Sierra EV following the launch of the Sierra ICE. We might get the EV version either around the end of 2025 or early 2026. The Sierra EV has been showcased earlier, and has a nice combo of a modern design with retro styling.

It will get a premium cabin, featuring a triple-screen layout, all your creature comforts and more. The EV is expected to get a 75 kWh battery pack, similar to the Harrier EV, with a maximum claimed range of over 500 km.

VinFast VF6

The popular Vietnamese brand, which competes with Tesla and BYD globally, will be entering India with its first EV being the VF6 compact SUV. It will mainly compete with EVs like the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV, and is expected to be priced anywhere from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The electric SUV features a 59.6 kWh battery pack that offers a WLTP claimed range of up to 399 km.

VinFast VF7

The VF7 will be positioned as the brand’s flagship model in India, expected to come at Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against popular EVs like the BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the BMW iX1 LWB. The exterior has a very appealing design, which will make heads turn for sure, while the interior has a neat and classy look.
