5 Door Mahindra Thar Roxx India Debut Tomorrow: 5 Things You Need To Know

Mahindra is all set to reveal one of its much anticipated models, the Thar Roxx, in its flesh tomorrow on August 14. Prices of the 5 door Thar Roxx will be announced on August 15, 2024. Apart from just being a longer Thar, the Roxx will get styling differences, a more premium interior with plentiful feature additions and much more. 

So without further ado, here are 5 things you need to know about the Mahindra Thar Roxx 5 door:

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Exterior Design 

Mahinda’s recent teaser campaign has already given us a fair clue for the Thar Roxx’s design ahead of its launch. 

Up front, the Thar Roxx gets a new 6-slat body-coloured grille that’s more dominating and in your face. Adding to the look are the new LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs. The bumper, with round fog lamps, is rugged and gets contrasting silver highlights.

In profile, the obvious highlights is the added length and additional set of doors with C-pillar mounted handles. It also gets large dual-tone alloys that adds to the premium look. At the rear, you now get new LED tail lamps and the tailgate mounted spare wheel is likely to get a cover. 

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Interior Design 

While the Mahindra Thar Roxx’s dashboard layout is similar to the three-door model, it gets a handful of differentiating elements. For starters, recent teasers have confirmed that the Thar Roxx will get a soft touch finish on the dash top. The seats are draped in beige leatherette upholstery and while it looks premium, keeping it clean can be a task, especially if you take it off-road. The steering wheel has been lifted off from the XUV700 and Scorpio N. 

As for rear-seat occupants, the bench, as per the teasers, can accommodate three people and even has a centre headrest. Adding to the comfort is the presence of a centre armest and rear AC vents. Do note that the Thar Roxx will be a 5-seater offering. 

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features Onboard 

In terms of features, the Thar Roxx will get a handful of upmarket ones such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, a Harman / Kardon sound system, ventilated front seats and keyless entry with push button start.

Passenger safety should be taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and reat parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and ADAS. 

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine Options 

Underneath the hood, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is likely to get a more powerful version of the existing Thar’s 150 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol and 132 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as well as rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. 

Teasers have confirmed that the elongated Thar will get electronically actuated rear differential and hill descent control for improved off-road performance. 

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Expected Price And Rivals 

One can expect the new 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx to be priced from around Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Force Gurkha, while being a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
