Toyota India will be launching the updated Glanza on March 15. Pre-launch bookings are already open, and we have exclusively reported that the premium hatch will come in seven variants and five colours. The updated Glanza follows the footsteps of the Baleno, and will get the same share of changes that Maruti has made. But this time around, Toyota has made some changes to keep the Glanza distinctive.
So, without further ado, here are five things you need to know about the Glanza:
Exterior Design

Unlike the existing Glanza, the 2022 model will look a tad different than the Baleno. The new chrome grille is reminiscent of Toyota's sedans like the Camry and Corolla, while the bumper has been restyled as well. In profile, the Glanza gets new 8-spoke alloys instead of the Maruti’s 10-spoke. The rear profile, save for the Glanza and Toyota badging, remains identical to the Baleno.
Interior Design

Inside, save for the Toyota branding, the Glanza’s dashboard layout is exactly the same as the Baleno. However, the Toyota gets a black-beige scheme instead of the Maruti’s black-blue colour, which lends the Glanza’s cabin a more upmarket look. It also gets all the new features from the Baleno, which brings us to the next point.
Features Onboard
New features in the Glanza include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (up from the 7-inch unit in the outgoing model), an Arkamys tuned sound system, head-up display, 360-degree camera, connected car tech (telematics only), six airbags, and electronic stability control.
Features like cruise control, automatic climate control, auto-LED headlights, and keyless entry with push-button start will be retained.
Engine

The Toyota Glanza will get the Baleno’s 90PS 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and optional AMT. The ultra-smooth CVT and mild-hybrid tech has been dropped now. And you now only get idle start-stop technology as an aid to improve fuel efficiency.
Expected Price And Rivals

Considering that the Glanza’s variant lineup is now similar to the Baleno, we expect the starting price to be lower at Rs 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, and the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
