Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Latest Updates

Yamaha has increased the prices of its entire scooter range. Click here for the May 2022 price list.

Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Engine

Powering the scooter is a new 125cc fuel-injected hybrid engine which churns out 8.2PS and 10.3Nm of peak torque (up by 0.5Nm). Yamaha says its hybrid engine is capable of delivering better mileage (16 percent more) while producing 30 percent more torque (compared to the 113cc Fascino). It gets a telescopic fork up front and a single shock absorber at the rear. The top-end variant gets a drum-disc brake setup with UBS (Unified Braking System). The scooter tips the scales at 99kg kerb, making it the lightest 125cc scooter on sale in India.

Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Variants

The Ray ZR 125 Fi is available with a front drum brake and front disc brake, getting two colours for the former and five colours for the latter.

Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Design

The Ray ZR 125 is a bit of an oddball when it comes to design. Its peculiar styling may not be to everyone's liking. But if there is one thing that goes in the favour of the scooter is that it is quite distinctive and doesn’t blend into the plethora of conventional designs.

Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Features

The Ray ZR 125 Fi comes with a Smart Motor Generator System, essentially a silent starter. It also comes with a Stop & Start system which automatically turns off the engine when idling in traffic for a while. The motor cranks up again as soon as the throttle is applied. Yamaha has introduced the Ray-ZR 125 Fi Hybrid for 2021 which features an LED headlight, LED tail light and Bluetooth connectivity. Other than this, it also gets a side stand cut-off switch, 21-litre underseat storage and an optional USB charger.

Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 Competitors

The Ray-ZR 125 goes up against the TVS NTorq 125 and the Honda Grazia in terms of rivals.

    Worth buying

The performance of the scooter is amazing as it is lightweight. It gains quick acceleration providing excellent mileage simultaneously. But also due to its lightweight, it bounces too much on potholes and speed bumps. But it's worth buying as its maintenance cost and fuel efficiency are great.

    Engine performance

Brake & engine performance is excellent very smooth engine comfort -- good not excellentmaintenance - highseat is very comfortable

    Yamaha company

After one year used, it is my personal experience, it's not the fittest scooter for Indian road and weather. Mostly in the rainy season started the problem with little rainwater or mud. Which is very common in the Indian climate. Its air filter needs to change every two months. Otherwise, its mileage will be decreased. So my opinion it's good for style or occasionally uses, but not fittest for ruff use. Yamaha company should need immediate modify this scooter. Otherwise, it's buy-in India just west of money.

    Small issue

    2nd service

Style, Performance, Engine refinement next level. No one can stand against yamaha in engine refinement. But suspension is very poor both front and rear suspension is very hard.In bad road conditions it is very very poor. You can feel everything from the road.Totally build with plastic.Maintenance cost is somewhat ok, Not too high but little bit on the higher side.Due to less weight it is not very stable above 50 kmph speed.Handling is outstanding.Headlights are not good.Overall not a very good option for those who rides in bad road.Milage is 50 kmpl after 2nd service.

Must Read Questions & Answers Before Buying RayZR 125

Q. I want to know full details for this scooter.?
  • Yamaha has launched the Ray-ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Street Raly 125 hybrid from Rs 76,830 onward. The scooter receives comprehensive updates for 2021 such as an LED headlight, LED taillight, Bluetooth connectivity, and, most importantly, a hybrid engine. Yamaha has also introduced new colour options for 2021. Powering the scooter is a new 125cc fuel-injected hybrid engine that churns out 8.2PS and 10.3Nm of peak torque (up by 0.5Nm). Read more -Breaking: Yamaha’s RayZR Is Also A Hybrid Now.
Q. Is this scooter comfortable for long ride and what about the suspension?
  • While it romps ahead in outright acceleration, and despite the linear power delivery of the motor, you can breeze past slow-moving traffic with a simple twist of the throttle. In the city, with the engine stop-start system helping out when necessary, the Ray ZR managed to deliver class-leading fuel efficiency of 66kmpl. Less weight means less stress on the engine to get up to cruising speeds, and the linear power delivery aiding. On the highway, it isn’t bad either, matching NTorq’s fuel efficiency figure. The slightly smaller fuel tank might force you to stop for fuel sooner but the 20-25km deficit in range will not be a deal-breaker. On the other hand, the suspension components are new with Yamaha now opting for a more plush setup. The ride isn’t jarring like it was on the older 110cc scooter. There is an initial bit of firmness from the front telescopic fork the ride improves as the speeds get higher. The mono-shock is very softly sprung. It does get a little wallowy when you tackle large speed humps with gusto or if you have a rather large pillion on board. So, you do experience that bounciness but that settles down fairly quickly as well, helping you regain composure with ease. For a better understanding of compatibility and driving comfort, we would suggest you to take a test drive. Follow the link and select your desired city for dealershipRead more -Yamaha Ray ZR 125 Road Test Review: The Sportiest Yamaha Scooter Yet?.
Q. 5 feet height ke liye theek rahegi?
  • The Ray ZR 125 features a low seat height and reaching the floor for a rider of average height or even slightly shorter rider won't be a bother. Moreover, we would suggest you to take a test ride for a better understanding of performance and comfort. Click on the link and select your desired city for dealership details.

Q. Which should I choose, Access 125 or RayZR125?
  • RAY ZR 125 is fresh looking scooty his stability on road is very good due to his rear wheel is wider than access 125 .wight of zr 125 is very light so handling of RAY ZR 125 FI IS Very essy to any person.
  • Reason please
  • Access 125
Q. MY RAYZR 125 Engine light is constantly on it does not get off after few seconds whats the problem
  • This means your vehicle has an ECU Problem. It needs to be scanned and the error code needs to be rectified at once. Please do not drive much with this engine light on as it may trigger other issues also. You can use an OBD II scanner if you are an expert or rush to your nearest Yamaha service station at once. Do not delay or it can prove you to be costly.
  • My Friend had the same issue, if you have modified any electrical component like, indicators, headlamp, taillamp, or any mechanical parts like exhaust etc. It might have tricked the ECU into a false alarm of engine failure, You Can Visit The Service Centre And Get A MRI Done, it will solve the problem,But if you have not changed any of these, your engine might have a problem with it.
  • For this, we would suggest you get in touch with the authorized service center as they will check the issue and will help you to resolve it. You can find the service center.

Q. How to drive long distance 500 km in one day - Ray-ZR 125?
  • You can not only drive 500 km but also more than that. But the thing is as the vehicle is a VBelt drive system you will have to give in a drive break of 30 mins post every 100 kms of run, if not your VBelt may harden and break off.
  • Riding for 500 kilometres continuously would not be a good idea, specially with a 125cc scooter. You may ride the scooter at nominal speeds and by taking regular intervals and keeping your health in check.
  • Take a break for every 60km for atleast 10 min so that engine will be healthy
