How much can you expect to pay for an assembled or imported sportbike in India?

Recently we looked at all the made in India full-faired sportbikes and how much they cost to buy. But while most of these do offer plenty of thrills, if you really want to experience the pinnacle of sportbike performance, you need to look at more premium, larger capacity offerings - sportbikes which are either made elsewhere and assembled in India (CKD) or ones which are imported as completely built units (CBU). So then, what will getting your hands on one of such machines cost you? Here’s a list of all CBU & CKD sportbikes available in India along with their prices and our two cents. And the same caveat as the last story applies here too - we’re defining a ‘sportbike’ as a motorcycle with a full fairing specifically engineered for high performance and a fun riding experience. That’s why sport nakeds didn’t make the cut here.

2	Honda CBR650R	Rs 8.89 lakh	87PS	57.5Nm	Most affordable inline-4 cylinder motorcycle in India. Fun, powerful motor, but handling is little held back by the bike’s heavy weight and below average tyres.
3	Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX	Rs 11.86 lakh	142PS	111Nm	The most affordable “litre-class” bike you can buy in India. The Ninja 1000SX is designed for covering large highway distances in a jiffy, and being quite comfy at the same time.
4	Aprilia RS660	Rs 13.39 lakh	100PS	67Nm	The RS660 is what you get if you cut an RSV4’s engine in half and plonk it in a smaller, lighter and more nimble chassis. Might be half an RSV on paper, but might even be quicker on a tight, twisty track.
5	Ducati Supersport 950	Rs 14.31 - 16.74 lakh	110PS	93Nm	Ducati’s take on a do-it-all sportbike. It’s got enough performance to keep you entertained, but it’s extremely usable in everyday conditions thanks to a suite of top notch electronic aids. That L-twin does run rather hot though.
6	Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R	Rs 15.83 lakh	203PS	115Nm	Say hello to India’s most affordable superbike. The ZX-10R has bagged 7 World Superbike titles, with 6 back-to-back ones with Jonathan Rea. This superbike is a must-have for all track enthusiasts.
7	Suzuki Hayabusa	Rs 16.41 lakh	190PS	150Nm	Officially labeled a hyper tourer, the ‘Busa is a surprisingly great all-rounder. Its agility simply belies its heft, offering sportbike levels of handling in a near-streamliner that was designed to breach 300kmph.
8	Ducati Panigale V2	Rs 18.52 lakh	155PS	104Nm	It might be the “entry-level” Panigale, but this V2 isn’t to be trifled with. It’s more compact than its larger sibling, and more forgiving in some of its mannerisms. But it’s best enjoyed on a race track.
9	BMW S 1000 RR	Rs 19.75 - 23.95 lakh	206.6PS	113Nm	The S 1000 RR is a full blown superbike that’s actually designed to coddle new riders and instill a sense of confidence in them, thanks to a whole host of incredible electronics. In the right hands though, it’s still wicked fast.
10	Aprilia RSV4	Rs 23.69lakh	216PS	125Nm	The RSV4 provides blistering performance and a sophisticated electronics suite in a relatively light and compact package, making this one of the best handling superbikes out there.
11	Ducati Panigale V4	Rs 23.50 - 28.40 lakh	217PS	124Nm	The big daddy of superbikes, the Panigale V4 blends phenomenal performance and handling with stunning Italian design. If you’ve got the skill, this is probably the fastest way around the BIC.
12	Honda CBR1000RR-R	Rs 32.68 - 34.00 lakh	217.5PS	113Nm	Those who thought the standard CBR1000RR Fireblade wasn’t mad enough, will love this “Double R, R”. It’s a little bit lighter, a little more powerful, faster, and a whole lot more expensive.
13	Kawasaki Ninja H2R	Rs 79.90 lakh	326PS	165Nm	Supercharged! Over 300 horsepower! Track-only! Almost one crore Rupees on-road! ‘Nuff said!
