Hyundai has teased the facelifted Creta ahead of its debut at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) scheduled from November 11-21. This will be the first update for the compact SUV since its debut in 2019.

The 2022 Creta gets a revised front fascia, which looks identical to the new Tucson. The headlamps are now recessed, while the new parametric jewel hidden-type DRL gets almost integrated into the grille when turned off. The new alloy wheels and the subtly redesigned tail lamps are the only two changes on the side and at the rear, respectively.

Overall, the design is a lot less polarising than the existing model.

The facelifted Creta will get a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control. Passenger safety should be taken care of by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

Hyundai has yet to reveal the upcoming model’s powertrain options. But when it comes to India, we reckon it will continue with the existing engine options: 115PS 1.5-litre petrol, 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel. The 1.5-litre engines can be teamed with manual and automatic transmissions, while the turbo-petrol is only mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Hyundai will likely bring the facelifted Creta to India in the second half of 2022. Prices should start from around Rs 10.5 lakh, putting it in the same league as the Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Kia Seltos, and the Mahindra XUV700’s 5-seater variants.
