In the latest Zig performance comparison report, we line up the Kia Sonet and Kia Seltos. Yes, this might not seem fair as one is a subcompact SUV, while the other sits above in the compact SUV segment. But what’s common between these two vehicles is that they share the same diesel engine. And we are going to find out which one is quicker in our real-world tests. 

Kia Sonet Diesel Engine

Both the Sonet and Seltos featured in this test are powered by a 116PS 1.5-litre diesel engine, teamed with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It must be noted that the diesel engine in both these cars can be had with 6-speed manual and 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) transmission options. With the trivia done, let’s get on to the acceleration tests.

Whoa! That was quite close. The smaller Kia Sonet managed to be the quicker one here, beating the Seltos by around 0.5 seconds. A similar gap can also be seen in the roll-on acceleration as well. So it could be due to the fact that the Seltos’ heavier weight could be the reason for this marginal time difference.
