The Swedish automaker has arrived with a new offering, marking an entry in the executive luxury sedan segment. The much-awaited Volvo S90 has been launched in India, carrying a sticker price of Rs 53.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The S90 is the flagship sedan offering from Volvo's stable and replaces the S80 that was previously sold in the country. The Volvo S90 has been introduced only in 'Inscription' variant for the Indian market.

The all-new S90 is based on the same platform and design philosophy as the brand’s flagship SUV model, the XC90. The car comes with the signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) that are integrated within the headlight enclosure. It comes with chrome highlights for the concave grille that is followed by inserts on the doors and window lines. At the back, the sedan features C-shaped wraparound LED tail lamps, giving the rear a distinctive appeal, while the twin diamond-shaped exhaust tips complete the look.
Step inside the Volvo S90 and one is welcomed with interiors that are draped in luxury. The cabin makes use of exquisite materials such as soft-touch leather, wooden inlays and metal insets, creating a lasting impression. Located in the centre of the dashboard is the eye-catching 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Audio comforts are taken care of by British electronics company Bowers and Wilkins with a setup consisting of 19 speakers.

Power to the Swedish car is achieved from a 2.0-litre ‘D4’ turbocharged diesel mill under the hood that is potent enough to produce 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The motor is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car comes packed with notable safety features like City Safety, large animal detection, pilot assist and park assist.
On the competition front, in the executive luxury sedan market, the Volvo S90 locks horn with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and the Audi A6.
