  • The Altroz Voice BoT is basically a digital interactive brochure.
  • It knows all the features of the Altroz, including its technical specifications and variant details.
  • The Altroz is slated to launch in January 2020 with prices expected to start from Rs 5.5 lakh.

The much-anticipated Tata Altroz has finally been unveiled in India. It’s the first car from the homegrown carmaker to be offered with BS6-compliant engines. It even packs premium features to distinguish it from its primary rivals, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. But the one feature that stands out from the crowd is the Altroz Voice BoT. Co-developed with Google, the Altroz Voice BoT utilises Google Assistant voice-assisted feature from your smartphone.

The Altroz Voice BoT can be accessed by any user who has a smartphone with Google Assistant. The user can access the voice command feature by using the keyword ‘Ok Google, Talk to Tata Altroz’. The Voice BoT is essentially a digital interactive brochure that comes packed with every detail you’d want to know about your Altroz. What’s more, it’s also capable of explaining the various features on offer in your hatchback.

When we asked Voice BoT about the Altroz’ safety features, it gave us a detailed explanation about features such as dual airbags and ABS with EBD along with a detailed video explanation.

The system knows what it’s upto and can’t be tricked. For instance, when we asked it about the Altroz’ exact launch date (too ambitious?), it didn’t reveal much apart from telling us that the hatchback will go on sale in January 2020. And when we asked the voice assistant about the Atroz’ prices... well... here’s the reply we got:

You can also book a test drive and even book the Altroz by using the Voice BoT feature. Meanwhile, bookings for Tata’s premium hatchback have started for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

The Altroz gets features such as a 7-inch infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, cruise control, a coloured MID a la the Harrier as well as automatic headlamps and wipers. It will be available with two BS6 compliant engine options at launch - a 1.2-litre petrol and  a 1.5-litre diesel. Both engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Prices for the Altroz will be revealed in January 2020 at the launch event. That said, we expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
