Skoda has revealed the official ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency figure of this engine

Skoda Kushaq 1.5-litre TSI deliveries commence.
MT returns 17.95kmpl while DSG has a claimed efficiency of 17.71kmpl.
Compact SUV has racked up more than 6,000 bookings.
Kushaq is priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Skoda India has commenced deliveries of the Kushaq’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol variants from today. The larger turbo-petrol motor, sold alongside the 1-litre TSI unit, is offered only in the top-spec Style trim. It can be had with both manual and automatic transmissions. Also, Skoda has revealed the ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of this powertrain.

The Kushaq’s 1.5-litre TSI boasts an ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 17.95kmpl and 17.71kmpl for the manual and automatic variants respectively. These impressive figures could be attributed to the engine’s cylinder deactivation technology that shuts down two cylinders under light load. That said, turbo-petrols are sensitive to driving style and fuel efficiency could drop down if you drive with a heavy right foot.

The new Kushaq has racked up over 6,000 bookings since its launch on June 28 this year, and currently commands a waiting period of up to two months. It’s priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same league as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
