The Punch’s dashboard design is exactly the same as the 2020 HBX concept, albeit with a different colour scheme

  • Tata Punch’s cabin is finished in a black-white colour scheme.
  • Gets a semi-digital instrument display, 7-inch infotainment system, and cruise control.
  • Will be powered by a 86PS 1.2-litre petrol engine.
  • An all-electric powertrain and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine can’t be ruled out.
  • Could be launched soon at Rs 5.5 lakh.

The upcoming Tata Punch SUV will have an interior identical to the one in the close-to-production HBX concept displayed at the Auto Expo 2020, save for a few visual differences.

The most striking difference here is that the production-spec Punch’s dashboard is finished in black-white in comparison to the concept’s all-black theme. The copper highlights have been replaced by a silver finish (or a colour-coordinated blue as seen in the teaser). The small compass has been done away with as well.

There’s also a generous amount of parts sharing with its siblings. For instance, the semi-digital instrument display, steering wheel, infotainment system, climate control knobs, and the gear lever is a direct lift from the Altroz. All said and done, these elements come along well to form a neatly designed dashboard.

On to the features. The Punch gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Harman sound system, drive modes, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push button start. Safety should be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with camera.

The Punch will be propelled by Tata’s familiar 86PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual or an optional 5-speed AMT. There won’t be a diesel engine option, but the 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and an all-electric powertrain can’t be ruled out.
