Ola Electric has some ambitious plans for the Indian market which will eventually become the global production hub for all Ola products. It’s already setting up the world’s largest manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, which will be followed by 1 lakh hypercharger network stations across 400 cities. The business has already roped in ex-Hyundai veteran Yongsung Kim to spearhead Ola’s global sales and distribution.
Ola Electric has now strengthened its leadership team further by appointing ex-Jaguar designer Wayne Burgess as Vice President of Design. Burgess will be in charge of leading Ola’s design studios in London and Bengaluru and conceptualising its future products, including scooters, bikes, and cars.
Wayne brings with him three decades of design experience having worked with premium car manufacturers Rolls Royce and Bentley in his early career to Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, and more recently, Lotus. He has even worked on iconic cars such as the Bentley Arnage in 1998, Aston Martin’s DB9 in the mid-2000s, and more recently, the Jaguar XF, F-Type, F-Pace SUV and XE.

Ola is gearing up to launch the first in its range of electric scooters in the coming months. It’s touted to be priced aggressively with best-in-class performance and range. The company’s mega factory will start churning out its electric scooters as soon as it hits its first phase annual capacity target of two million by the end of summer.
The car-sharing platform turned EV manufacturer’s aggressive business strategy will surely ruffle up some feathers in the ever-growing electric mobility space in India.
