Mahindra recently unleashed the XUV700 three-row SUV that boasts an imposing design, advanced technology and more powerful engines than its spiritual predecessor, the XUV500. But you’ll have to wait a while to book the SUV as dealer sources suggest bookings will commence on October, 2021.

It will be offered in 5 and 7-seater layouts with two broad trims on offer: MX and AX (AdrenoX) that is further classified to the AX3, AX5 and the AX7 variants. The cabin itself is loaded with a 10.25-inch dual-screen digital drivers display and infotainment setup, running Mahindra’s new AdrenoX software, connected car tech, Alexa AI connectivity, a Sony 3D sound system and a panoramic sunroof. Other features include dual-zone climate control, wired/wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and wireless charging.

Safety equipment includes seven airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, driver fatigue detection, and personalised safety alerts. It also comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) range of driver assistance features including adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane keep assist.
Under the hood it can be specced with the Thar’s 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine, albeit with more punch. Both can be paired with either manual or automatic transmissions, with the diesel mill getting an optional all-wheel drivetrain. The diesel motor also has three drive modes: Zip, Zam, and Zoom. But the base MX diesel will only be offered with a manual transmission. Here’s a look at how the engine and transmission combinations split across the MX and AX trims:
