The Kia Carnival premium MPV is off to a flying start in India, racking up 1,410 bookings on its very first day in the market! Bookings for the Carnival are now open for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. You can book one by visiting any of Kia’s 265 showrooms across the country or even on its official website.

The Carnival is Kia’s second model in India after the successful Seltos SUV. Prices for the upcoming MPV will be announced on February 5 at Auto Expo 2020. We have already driven the Carnival and were pretty impressed with the package. You can read and watch our detailed first drive review.

The Kia Carnival comes in three variants: Premium, Prestige and Limousine. It’ll be offered with seven, eight or even nine seats depending on the variant you pick. It’s powered by a BS6-compliant 2.2-litre CRDI diesel engine that develops 200PS of power and 440Nm of torque. The Carnival will be available with an 8-speed automatic transmission only. Kia has no plans of offering a petrol or a manual transmission variant.

In terms of features, the top-spec Carnival Limousine comes loaded with rear electric sliding doors, rear entertainment screens, dual-pane sunroof, an 8-inch infotainment system with connected car technology, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and tri-zone climate control. Safety features in the Kia Carnival include six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and electric parking brake with auto hold. For details of the exact variant-wise features, head here.

Prices for the Kia Carnival are expected to start from Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom). Thanks to its niche position, the Kia Carnival doesn’t have any direct rivals. Its closest rival in the Indian market is the Toyota Innova Crysta.
