Tata Tiago EV is the official vehicle for 2023 IPL series.
Cricketers are thrashing the Tiago EV with sixes at this year’s IPL
Nehal Wadhera's six left a dent just above the front door handle of the EV.
Previously, CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad also smashed a six that landed on the electric hatch.
Every time a ball hits the car, Tata will donate Rs 5 lakh towards a good cause.
The Tata Tiago EV is the official vehicle for this year’s IPL season, which is currently in full swing. And while it is undoubtedly an honour to sponsor one of the biggest cricket leagues in the world, the Tiago EV is having to face some beating in exchange for that fame. Yes, literally, the electric hatchback is getting battered during the matches, as it gets hit once in a while whenever a batsman hits a six across the field.

Recently, Nehal Wadhera, a Mumbai Indians player, marked his innings as he hit a six that landed directly on the Tiago EV which was showcased in Tata’s stand. Of course, it left a mark, and was just above the front door handle in the form of a concave bump. Nehal isn’t the first player to strike the Tiago EV, as CSK’s Ruturaj Gaikwad also smacked a six in one of the earlier games this season that left a mark on the Tiago EV on the rear door.

While the Tiago EV is a prize that the Electric Striker of the Season will get to drive home, the pounding that the car is taking match after match won’t be in vain. The carmaker will donate Rs 5 lakh to the coffee plantations in Karnataka, helping the growth and conservation of biodiversity. Imagine if only even 10 players manage to scrape the Tiago EV throughout the course of the season, Tata will end up donating half a crore Rupees to charity.

Before the Tiago EV, the Punch was the car of the tournament and Tata has a long-standing relationship with the league in terms of brand sponsorship with the Harrier, Nexon, and Safari also sharing the same stage on previous occasions.

Priced between Rs 8.69 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh, the Tiago EV is one of the handful electric hatchbacks in the country and rivals the MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3.
