The next-gen Tesla Roadster was first unveiled all the way back in 2017.
The standard trim already boasts a top speed of over 400kmph, while a 200kWh battery allows for a nearly 1000 kilometre range.
The Tesla Roadster was expected to go into production in 2020, but has since been delayed indefinitely.
While we still await the launch of the second-generation Tesla Roadster (which was unveiled in 2017), CEO Elon Musk has wasted no time in dropping another bombshell. Responding to a fan’s question, Musk claimed that the radical electric supercar can be equipped with an optional SpaceX package, which can help it go from 0-96kmph in a blisteringly quick 1.1 seconds!
If this tall assertion proves to be true, it will make the Roadster (with the SpaceX pack) nearly eight-tenths faster than the regular model’s claimed 1.9 second sprint time, which anyway dwarfs other supercars of all shapes and form -- electric or ICE. Though we have yet to know the kind of performance upgrades the SpaceX package will entail, it probably won’t be rocket thrusters, as Musk’s tweet reads.
For reference, the standard model is claimed to be powered by three electric motors driving all four wheels to deliver a whopping 10,000Nm of torque and a top speed of over 402kmph. It utilises a 200kWh battery, giving it a range of nearly a thousand kilometres. So, with the SpaceX pack, we can expect improvements across the aforementioned fronts.

We think you should take all of this with a pinch of salt. This might just be an attempt to keep the hype going for the new Roadster before it goes on sale. The second-gen Tesla Roadster was initially expected to launch last year, but we’re still waiting for an official word on it.
