Devot Motors has unveiled its nameless prototype electric motorcycle at Auto Expo 2020

Every man and his dog is jumping on the electric two-wheeler bandwagon in India. Latest among these is Devot Motors - a company founded in 2019 with some rather lofty ambitions. Its first prototype electric motorcycle, unveiled at Auto Expo 2020, claims to deliver not only a 100kmph top speed, but also a range of 200km!

Other features include keyless operation, modular batteries, overcharging protection and regenerative braking. Once you’re done with your 200km run (if it really does last that long), the bike carries an on-board charger. Fast charging is also on the cards, but the manufacturer’s press release and website are a rather qualitative affair, with no real numbers available.

As far as motor specs, battery specs and charging time are concerned, your guess is as good as ours. The one thing we can talk about, though, is appearance. The Devot sports a rather mass-heavy appearance with most of the bulk concentrated in the "tank" and belly region. Dual shock absorbers attached to a box section swingarm and a front brake disc the size of a tea saucer seem to imply that some cost-cutting has been carried out. We think you'll have to be quite brave to park your butt on the single-piece stepped seat and take this baby up to 100kmph (if it actually manages it).

What’s surprising, though, is that even despite the lack of details and the fact that this is only its first prototype (without so much as a name), Devot is hoping to launch the bike and commence deliveries by the end of this year. We wish them luck! We suspect they’ll need a lot of it.
