Tata Motors has teased the upcoming Harrier automatic via YouTube. The Harrier automatic will debut at Auto Expo 2020 along with the Gravitas. It’ll sport a minor cosmetic upgrade and could come with a BS6-compliant diesel engine.
The automatic variant of the Tata Harrier will most likely use the 6-speed automatic gearbox from Hyundai. It is expected to be paired to the upgraded BS6-compliant 2.0-litre Multijet that could develop 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. Currently, the Harrier’s BS4 unit puts out 140PS of power and is offered with a 6-speed manual only.
The 2020 Tata Harrier was teased before during the Altroz’ launch event. It’ll sport a new red exterior shade and premium dual-tone alloy wheels. Other upgrades in the 2020 Harrier include a panoramic sunroof, a feature we Indians love. It could also come with the recently introduced connected car technology.
The introduction of an automatic gearbox and other features will increase the Harrier’s appeal and make it more relevant in the segment. Prices for the upcoming model are expected to start above the Harrier BS4, which is priced from Rs 13.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2020 Tata Harrier will renew its rivalry with the MG Hector and Mahindra XUV500.
