Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the Victoris, a new-age compact SUV that not only occupies the position of the flagship product under Arena dealerships but also comes with huge expectations. It falls precisely in between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara.

The Victoris is Maruti's safest vehicle to date, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating already under its belt. And with its combination of hybrid, petrol, and CNG powertrains, it's safe to say that Maruti wants this SUV to be everyone, from the urban commuter to the eco-friendly buyer's one-stop shop. Oh, and by the way, it's also being exported to more than 100 countries. Big shoes to fill, then.

Here's a closer look at what the Victoris has to offer, in real-life images:

1. A Bold New Face

The front of the Victoris immediately feels different from Maruti’s usual design playbook. The sleek horizontal grille with chrome accents, slim pixel-style DRLs on top, and sharp LED headlamps positioned below. The bumper comes with blacked-out inserts and a faux skid plate.

2. Side Profile That Means Business

From the side, the Victoris sits on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The wheel arches are boxy complemented by chunky body cladding. Elements such as the blacked-out ORVMs, roof rails, and floating roof look (due to darkened pillars) complete the look.

3. Sleek, Wide Rear Design

At the rear, Victoris follows the trend of connected LED taillamps. They sweep the length of the tailgate, lending the SUV a premium, wide-bodied appearance. There’s a dedicated spoiler and VICTORIS lettering to finish the rear profile.

4. A Premium-Feeling Cabin

Step inside, and the Victoris instantly feels like an upgrade for Maruti.

There’s a 10.25-inch digital driver's and a huge panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging.

5. Tech That's Fresh For Maruti

Here's where the Victoris stands out: it's the first Maruti to receive Level-2 ADAS. That includes equipment such as forward collision avoidance, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and high-beam assist as standard. For a brand that is known for playing it safe with tech, this is a giant step.

6. Safety First – 5 Stars At BNCAP

The Victoris not only looks the part, but it also excels in crash tests. With a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, it joins the expanding ranks of safer Indian vehicles. Six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, 360-degree camera, and seatbelt warning across all seats are standard.

7. Engines For All

Under the bonnet, the Victoris borrows its engines from the Grand Vitara:

  • 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol (103 PS, 137 Nm) with 5MT/6AT

  • 1.5-litre strong hybrid (116 PS combined, 141 Nm) with e-CVT

  • 1.5-litre petrol-CNG (88 PS, 121.5 Nm) with 5MT

The hybrid offers efficiency, the petrol does the basics, and the CNG is where it gets interesting. It's Maruti's first twin-cylinder CNG SUV, which is placed underbody, so you don't have to compromise on boot space for green credentials.

8. Lots Of Variants To Pick From

With six wide trims: Lxi, Vxi, Zxi, Zxi(O), Zxi+, and Zxi(O)+, Maruti is ensuring that there's a Victoris for all budgets. The top trims, naturally, would be packed with features, and the lower trims would be value-oriented.

9. Competition In Sight

Placed between the Grand Vitara and the Brezza, the Victoris will be up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Tata Curvv, Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. With its mix of features, hybrids, and now a safety-first badge, the Victoris could quite possibly shock a few in this very competitive space.

ZigSays…

The Victoris feels like a turning point for Maruti Suzuki. It’s not just about fuel efficiency or affordability anymore; it’s also about design, tech, and safety. With its export plans, hybrid lineup, and that crucial 5-star crash test result, the Victoris could well be the SUV that helps Maruti shed its old-school image.
