The SUV gets a completely fresh and sporty look. The modern styling of the HS is in line with the new MG3 supermini. At the front, there are new, sleek headlights integrated with sharp daytime driving lights and a huge grille similar to the MG3. The side profile shows off its sloping roofline complementing the sporty look, plus there are 19-inch alloy wheels. Then, the rear end has a contoured design, a rakish rear window, and sleek taillights. There are also light bars at the front and rear running across its width.
The interior looks striking with the modern touches, including a dual-screen setup housed in a single panel. The dashboard features a symmetrical, horizontal layout. MG has given it a new steering wheel with flat top and bottom ends, a new gear stick, and soft materials throughout.

The HS PHEV boasts a range of features, such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch driver display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, MG iSmart connected car tech, dual-zone AC, power tailgate, LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, up to 8 speakers, and four USB ports. Additionally, it offers a 360-degree camera, e-call system, electronic stability programme with auto-hold (ESP), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), multiple airbags, and MG Pilot – a suite of driver assistance systems.
Powering the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 21.4 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. The engine solely generates 143 PS and 230 Nm, whereas the electric motor produces 184 PS and 340 Nm. The combined output stands at 272 PS and 350 Nm. It offers a top speed of 190 kmph. Notably, it delivers an EV-only range of over 100 km. This range is similar to the new Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq plug-in hybrid models. A pure petrol powertrain is also on sale in select markets. The onboard charger includes a 6.6 kW.
While MG has not confirmed the launch of HS PHEV in India, its India plan for 2025 also includes the introduction of a PHEV in India. Hence, the possibility of the market of the MG HS is high. If introduced, it would cost around 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom)and upon launch, it will rival the Citroen C5 Aircross and the upcoming new Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan.
