Volvo has given the XC60 a facelift, priced at Rs 71.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The update brings in a tweaked exterior, and upgraded interior with new tech, while keeping the powertrain same as before. The facelift does not radically change things, but rather features smart and sensible upgrades to add to the overall appeal of this sophisticated SUV.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at what the XC60 facelift is all about!
Volvo being Volvo has not made any major changes to the design of the XC60 facelift, but has instead added subtle tweaks and necessary ones to make the SUV look more charming.

Up front, you get a tweaked grille, along with sleeker LED headlights and a more prominent front bumper with modern styling. The alloy wheels sport a new design, while the overall silhouette remains similar to the outgoing model.

The LED tail lamps now get a smoked finish, and the XC60 looks like a typical Volvo when viewed from the rear. It comes with Volvo badging at the rear, a roof-mounted spoiler and a shark fin antenna. The XC60 comes in two new hues: Forest Lake and Aurora Silver. Moreover, the Mulberry Red hue will be available with the XC60 for the very first time.
The interior features some key updates, including new finishes and new tech to keep things up to date. The dashboard is dominated by a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system which runs on the latest software and comes with in-built Google Maps, over-the-air updates and Google Assistant. Volvo claims that the new infotainment system is twice as quick as the outgoing system!

The interior screams luxury and you get some new materials, including the generous use of Quilted Nordico, which gives it a more premium feel. The storage spaces are now more well-executed and you get ample space for your knick-knacks.
You get a brilliant Bowers & Wilkins 15-speaker sound system that’s clearly one of the best in the segment. It comes with powered, ventilated and heated seats, along with massage functions as well. Other noteworthy features include a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, powered tailgate, air purifier, four-zone climate control, and nicely executed ambient lighting.

Top safety features include Pilot Assist (Level 2 ADAS), blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear collision mitigation, and driver alert control, and a 360-degree camera with rear parking assist.
The facelifted model comes with the familiar 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering 250 PS and 350 Nm. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard. The 0-100 kmph time of 6.9 seconds is not bad for an SUV that’s not necessarily meant to go fast.

The Volvo XC60 rivals the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and the Audi Q5, and with the facelift, it will look to give a tougher fight to these stalwarts. While the XC60 is not an SUV you would show off at a car meet or one that would attract eyes, it’s for those who know how good it is without it being flashy. It is all about understated elegance, that comes with a package that’s now better than before. Moreover, just like any other Volvo, it is among the safest cars in the world, as it comes with Volvo’s inbuilt safety DNA.
