Volvo To Launch Facelifted XC60 And S90 Mild-hybrid On October 19

Both models will utilise a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system

In a step coming closer to its electrification journey in India, Volvo will be launching the facelifted XC60 and S90, both with a mild-hybrid powertrain, on October 19. These two models will be the carmaker’s first partially-electrified models to go on sale ahead of the all-electric XC40 Recharge that’s slated for launch in 2022.

The facelifted XC60 will feature minor design updates in the form of new bumpers, an updated front grille, and new alloy wheels. Inside, the premium SUV gets the carmaker’s latest Android infotainment system with Google apps and Volvo’s ‘Digital Services’ package.

But the main change is, of course, under the hood. The 2-litre petrol engine is now paired with a 48V mild hybrid system for torque assist and improved fuel economy. This powertrain is offered in two states of tune overseas: a 205PS with optional all-wheel drive in the B5 trim and 300PS with standard all-wheel drive in B6. 

Volvo will disclose the exact specifications and variants this engine will be available with at the launch event.

The S90 mild-hybrid will gets cosmemtic updates and the updated Android infotainment system that's found in the XC60. The mild-hybrid variants utilises the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the XC60, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. It’s offered in two states of tune: 197PS or 250PS. Expected Price And Rivals

The S90 mild-hybrid will command a premium over the standard model that’s priced from Rs 60.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will fight it out with the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and BMW 5 Series

The X60, on the other hand, is likely to be priced from around Rs 62 lakh, rivalling the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and the soon-to-be-launched Audi Q5.
