International-spec Virtus to get larger 17-inch alloys.
These wheels not only look hot, but improve the overall stance.
Virtus is all set to be launched in India on June 9.
Prices are expected to start from Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Volkswagen Virtus is all set to storm the Indian market on June 09, and pre-launch bookings are underway. During the time we spent with it, we couldn't stop gleaming over the fact that it’s one of the best looking cars in its segment. We recently managed to spot the international-spec model on the Pune-Mumbai expressway and it looks even more sick.
Just one design has helped the international-spec Virtus look so much better than the India-spec model. And it’s the 17-inch 5-spoke dual-tone alloys that seems to have been lifted from the Golf GTI. Of course, 16-inchers with tall profile tyres make a lot of sense for our less-than-perfect road conditions. But man, these rims look sick!
The India-spec Virtus has 179mm of ground clearance and that helps it traverse bad roads and large speed breakers without touching its belly. But the flip side is that the stance is slightly higher than what you would expect from a traditional three-box sedan. These new 17-inch rims fix that problem, but it’s likely not to be offered here.
The Virtus will be the second Volkswagen to be based on the German carmaker’s localised MQB-A0-IN platform. It will be offered with two turbo-petrol engines, with manual and automatic transmissions. Plus, the larger engine will be limited to the top-spec GT trim, which gets bespoke design touches.
