Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Launched With Top-Spec Priced At Rs 23.60 Lakh! First EV From The Brand In India…..

More than a month after its debut, Toyota has finally revealed the full prices of its first EV in India, called the Urban Cruiser Ebella. Based on the Maruti e Vitara, this new EV’s fully-loaded E3 trim can be had at Rs 23.60 Lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s take a look at what we know so far:

2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Variants And Pricing

Toyota is offering the Urban Cruiser Ebella in a choice of 3 variants, namely E1, E2 and E3. The E1 variant is only available with the 49 kWh battery pack, while the two higher variants only get a 61kWh battery. Here is the detailed price list:

2026 Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Exterior

The exterior of the Urban Cruiser Ebella is very similar to the Maruti e Vitara that it is based on, except a front-end that diverges to follow Toyota’s global design philosophy. This fascia consists of slim LED headlamps, a blanked-off gloss black grille and a simple-looking bumper with sharp vertical cuts on either side for better aerodynamics.

From the side profile, you’ll be hard-pressed to distinguish it from its Maruti cousin, and it continues to feature the same boxy silhouette, rear door handles mounted behind the window and squared-off wheel arches with thick cladding. There is a ‘BEV’ badge on the charging flap though, which is a point of distinction.

The rear-end styling too is very similar to the e Vitara with a connected LED taillamp cluster and thick plastic cladding on the layered bumper. However, the taillamps do get reworked detailing, with new badging on the tailgate as well.

Inside, the Urban Cruiser Ebella features a dual-tone brown and black theme for a premium feel. The minimal-looking dashboard also features a dual-screen setup on top with toggle-like switches for basic climate control functions below the square AC vents. 

The centre console comes finished in gloss-black with a dial for the gear shift. Moving to the rear seats, it gets a 40:20:40 split, which also allows for individual slide and recline adjustment for each passenger.

The equipment list on the Urban Cruiser Ebella consists of a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, fixed glass roof, 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, 10-speaker JBL sound system and ventilated front seats.

Safety-wise it gets Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, electronic stability control, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Underneath, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella gets a choice of 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs offering a range of up to 543 km. These get paired to a single electric motor that puts out up to 174 PS of power. Here are the detailed specifications of the Urban Cruiser Ebella:

Notably, the Urban Cruiser Ebella also gets 150 kW DC fast charging capability, which enables quicker top-ups during road trips.

Besides the Maruti e Vitara that it is based on, the Urban Cruiser Ebella goes up against cars like the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor EV and ZS EV, VinFast VF6 and VF7.

Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Ebella is here, and it chooses to follow a rather conventional and functional approach in the EV space, which generally sees a more radical direction by other carmakers. This shall ensure that it gets better acceptance among traditional buyers and those looking for something understated and easy to own. However, if this approach yields enough success for Toyota, or if Ebella face an uphill battle remains to be seen.
