Toyota has pulled the wraps of Urban Cruiser BEV concept at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025. This electric SUV, known as the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, globally is a re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It features a mild exterior redesign, whereas the interior closely resembles the EV it is based on. While the carmaker did not disclose any details about the Urban Cruiser BEV concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the brand is likely to offer it with two battery pack options paired with a single motor. Launch is expected to take place later this year.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser, despite being a rebadged version of the Maruti eVX with a similar appearance, features a unique frontal design. The dimensions of the electric SUV are:
Length- 4285 mm
Width- 1800 mm
Height- 1640 mm
Wheelbase- 2700 mm
The nose of the Urban Cruiser has a blacked-out panel that houses LED lighting elements, including small pixel-shaped LED DRL elements. It has a clean nose and a simple airdam design.
Moving to the side, the SUV's thick black body cladding extends over the wheel arches, giving it a tough appearance. This is enhanced by alloy wheels ranging from 18 to 19 inches in diameter and fully covered.
The cabin is similar to the Maruti eVX, but with a different black/grey decor. However, the two spoke steering, dual screen configuration, and a front central console bridge incorporated with the armrest are identical to the Maruti. It has sliding rear seats in the back that may be used to enhance legroom or bootspace as needed by passengers.
It will include verified features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, 12-colour ambient lighting, a motorised driver seat, a fixed glass roof, and a premium JBL sound system. Safety-wise, it will have numerous airbags, a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, as well as ADAS features.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser electric-SUV might bring two battery pack options and both front-wheel and all-wheel drivetrains.

While the larger battery pack will also come with an all-wheel-drive option, the smaller battery pack will only be available with the front-wheel-drive setup. Although Toyota has not yet released the official range estimates for this new electric SUV, we anticipate that it will reach as much as 550 kilometres.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is anticipated to retail for approximately Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom). Its rivals would include the MG ZS EV, the Tata Curvv EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric.
