The Mahindra Scorpio has hit a big milestone in India ever since its debut over two decades ago in the country. One of the popular SUVs in the market, the Scorpio has hit the nine lakh production milestone in the country. Ever since its debut, the Scorpio has been very well received and extremely popular among SUV buyers in the country.
The Scorpio nameplate made its debut in India over two decades ago and boy, what a journey has it been ever since. It has the presence that most buyers expect from an SUV, a high seating position that many associate as ‘king of the road’ and most importantly, offering comfort for occupants while having the potential to go anywhere.
Yes, earlier iterations of the Mahindra Scorpio weren’t polished. Plenty of hard and sharp plastics with poor finish, it wasn’t ergonomically sorted inside the cabin and a super bumpy ride with not so great handling. But where the SUV stood out was in its hardy and reliable powertrains and a tough chassis that can embrace anything.
Mahindra also took an active effort in making the latest iteration of the Scorpio, the Scorpio N, more refined and that shows. It gets a much plusher interior, handles and rides well and refined powertrains. To know our impressions on the new Mahindra Scorpio N, check out our in-depth first drive review.

Mahindra retails the latest generation Scorpio N and its predecessor, the Scorpio Classic, in India. And despite the newer model available on shelves, the Scorpio Classic is also racking in decent sales for the carmaker. The Scorpio Classic is priced from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 16.81 lakh. On the other hand, the Scorpio N ranges between Rs 13.05 lakh and Rs 24.52 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Both these models are rugged alternatives to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun and upcoming Citroen C3 Aircross as well as Honda Elevate.
