While it’s underpinned by the Kushaq and Slavia’s architecture, it’ll be altered to help it duck under the four-metre mark

Skoda India has confirmed that its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV is in the works and is being prepped for a March 2025 debut. The upcoming model from the Czech carmaker will be based on the MQB-A0 IN platform that underpins the Slavia and Kushaq. Here are more details you need to know:

Platform To Be Altered

While the upcoming Skoda SUV might use the same underpinnings, it will be revised to ensure the model ducks under the four-metre mark. So one can expect a shorter wheelbase over the Slavia and Kushaq, which measure 2651mm.

For the unknown, the MQB-A0 IN platform is a localised version (over 95 percent) of the VW Group’s MQB-A0 architecture that underpins the group’s entry-level models overseas. Also, the India 2.0 cars – namely the Virtus, Slavia, Kushaq, and Taigun – that are all based on the same architecture, have nailed the Global NCAP safety test with a five-star rating. Hence, a similar performance is expected from the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV as well.

Which Engine Will It Get?

The upcoming Skoda sub-4 metre SUV will be powered by just the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine to meet the taxation benefits available for sub-4m offerings. It will be teamed with either the 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It’s likely to be the sole powertrain option.
