With its robust crash performance, reinforced structure, and strong hybrid tech, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris becomes the brand’s safest SUV in India.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris Scores 5 Stars In BNCAP Crash Test – highlights

Maruti Suzuki, in the past, was known for valuing mileage over metal, but the newly tested Victoris SUV could very well turn that story on its head. Straight out of the labs of Bharat NCAP, the Victoris has received a rating of a whopping 5 stars in safety, with almost full marks for Adult Occupant Protection (31.66/32) and an impressive 43/49 in Child Occupant Protection

This makes the Victoris not just another fuel-efficient family SUV, but also a genuinely safe Maruti, perhaps the safest we’ve ever seen from India’s largest carmaker.

Maruti Victoris Safety: Hits It Out Of The Park

The Victoris, tested in its ZXI+ Strong Hybrid eCVT, ZXI+(O) Strong Hybrid eCVT and ZXI+(O) 6AT avatars, impressed in both frontal offset and side impact tests.

The SUV bagged:

  • 15.66/16 in the frontal crash test

  • 16/16 in side crash test

That's about as close to perfect as can be achieved in the art of crash testing. Even in the severe side pole impact test, the Victoris stood firm with good protection ratings.

In terms of child safety, the Victoris scored a 24/24 in dynamic testing (frontal and side crashes simulated using child dummies) and a 12/12 in CRS installation. The only downgrade was in the vehicle assessment score, which scored 7/13.

What's Included In The Safety Kit?

Maruti hasn't held back on gear here:

  • 6 airbags (front, side, and curtain)

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • ISOFIX mounts as standard

  • Seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters

  • Pedestrian protection technology

Seatbelt reminders for all seats and 3-point seatbelts throughout the cabin complete the package, making it ready for the family.

Why This Is A Big Deal For Maruti?

Maruti models such as the Swift, WagonR, and Alto have otherwise been criticised for poor safety performances. The Victoris' high score is a strategic move – demonstrating the brand's ability to marry efficiency with serious safety.

It also doesn't hurt that the Victoris is a hybrid SUV, positioning it as an eco-conscious and efficient package with strong safety credentials in one offer.

What Next?

The Victoris will take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate, many of which are yet to undergo BNCAP tests. With these results, Maruti now has a legitimate bragging right in the safety-first conversation, something that could reshape buyer perception.

So, is this the SUV that finally changes Maruti Suzuki’s “lightweight” reputation? On paper – and in crash labs – it sure looks like it.
