With the Mahindra XUV 7XO now on sale from Rs 13.66 lakh(ex-showroom), the midsize SUV segment has surely seen a major disruption, once again. And with this new facelift of its flagship SUV, the carmaker has taken the opportunity to introduce loads of new equipment taken the XUV700’s baton forward, but how evenly is this spread out? Let’s take a look:
But before we start, you should know that Mahindra has equipped the XUV 7XO with standard features like 6 airbags, triple screen setup, push button start, cruise control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic stability control and rear AC vents.
Price: Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 14.96 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combinations: Petrol MT, Diesel MT
Key Highlights:
Bi-LED projector headlamps
17-inch steel wheels with wheelcaps
12.3-inch three-screen layout
Wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
Cruise control
6 airbags with ESC, HHA, HDC, TC
Drive modes
Rear AC vents
Push button start
6-speaker sound system

The AX variant of the XUV 7XO is very well-equipped for an entry-level trim. Beyond just the essentials, it also gets some convenience features such as the three-screen layout, rear AC vents, drive modes and even wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. And when you combine this with the competitive starting price of Rs 13.66 lakh(ex-showroom), it not only punches above its weight, but will also give cars from a lower segment tough competition too.
Price: Rs 16.02 lakh to Rs 17.94 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combinations: Petrol MT/AT, Diesel MT/AT
Key highlights(in addition to AX):
Rear view camera with dynamic guidelines
Power folding ORVMs with auto fold
Rear washer and wiper
Rear windshield defogger

The second-from-base AX3 variant, however, becomes less significant as it adds only 4 new features over the AX despite a price delta of Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the manual variants. However, for buyers wanting an automatic transmission, this is the entry-level variant with both Petrol AT and Diesel AT combinations available.
Price: Rs 17.52 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combination: Petrol MT/AT, Diesel MT/AT
Key highlights( In addition to AX3):
Panoramic sunroof
Front parking sensors
Keyless entry
Reading lamps
17-inch stylised steel wheels

Next in line is the AX5 variant, which is the cheapest variant to get the crowd-favourite panoramic sunroof, along with a few more niceties like front parking sensors and keyless entry. Given the wide range of powertrain cobinations and the value-for-money factor, it is likely to be a popular choice for a lot of buyers.
Price: Rs 18.48 lakh to Rs 20.40 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combination: Petrol MT/AT, Diesel MT/AT
Key Highlights (In addition to AX5):
18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels

The AX7 variant brings forward a major upgrade with loads of fancier equipment. It also brings forward a fresh interior with a new steering wheel. The AX7 has pretty much all you would desire, without crossing the 20 lakh mark by a lot, and we are sure it will be one of the bestselling variants for this SUV.
Price: Rs 21.97 lakh to Rs 23.44 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combination: Petrol AT, Diesel MT/AT/AT(AWD)
Key Highlights (In addition to AX7):
Level 2 ADAS suite

Ventilated front seats
Active noise cancellation

Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
The AX7 Tech is the variant that we would recommend for those with a lot of highway usage, given the extra knee airbag for the driver, the inclusion of ADAS and some more useful features such as an upgraded music system and ventilated front seats.

Notably, the AX7 Tech is also available with an optional all-wheel drive system as well for when roads get rougher. On the other hand, chauffeur-driven customers would also appreciate the optional 6-seater layout with captain seats in the second-row too.
Price: Rs 22.47 lakh to Rs 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain Combination: Petrol AT, Diesel MT/AT/AT(AWD)
Key Highlights (In addition to AX7 Tech):
19-inch diamond-cut alloys
Ambient lighting
6-way co-driver powered seat
Powered ‘Boss mode’
Ventilated rear seats
Rear window sunblinds
Rear wireless charger
Dolby Vision

Topping off the range is the AX7 Luxury variant, which gets some more technology in the form of a powered ‘Boss mode’ function, ventilated rear seats, a rear wireless charger and a powered co-driver seat as well, which help boost the ‘wow’ factor even more. That said, most of these features are not essential, and unless you want to experience the latest and greatest in technology, we suggest looking at lower variants that suit you. Just like the AX7 Tech, this variant too gets an optional 6-seater layout and an optional all-wheel drive powertrain as well.
As can be seen above, Mahindra has done well to balance technology and affordability for each variant. Buyers on a budget, and those who want just the essentials, can easily look at the base AX and AX3 variants, which come with all the necessary features, while those seeking the full-fat luxury experience can have the top-end AX7 Luxury variant, which gets some groundbreaking innovations.
Overall, the widespread availability of variants and powertrain combinations will ensure a lot more choice for buyers.
