The Thar Roxx and the Scorpio N are two Mahindra SUVs, which offer you a package with both off-roading capabilities along with the comforts necessary for a family. They even share the same engine options, including both petrol and diesel. In this story, we pitch the diesel 4x2 automatic versions of the two SUVs against each other, and find out which one is quicker in the real-world. A quick spec check before the performance test:

As mentioned earlier, both cars share the same engines. Both are available with a turbo-petrol engine as well, but this test revolves around the performance of the 4x2 diesel automatic powertrains only.

On paper, the Scorpio N has a slight advantage in terms of its torque figure. But will that help it win the race? Let’s find out:

That’s a clean sweep for the Thar Roxx! Despite the torque disadvantage, the Roxx is quicker in the 0-100kmph sprint as well as the quarter mile test. It was quicker in the 20-80kmph kickdown test.

In terms of braking, the Thar Roxx stopped 2.73 metres earlier than the Scorpio N.
Mahindra hasn’t divulged the prices of the Thar Roxx’s 4x4 variants. Prices for the 4x2 variants range between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Scorpio N, on the other hand, juggles between Rs 13.85 lakh and Rs 24.54 lakh. The Thar Roxx is a rival to the Force Gurkha 5-door and Maruti Jimny. The Scorpio N sits in a different segment and fends off competition from Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and the Tata Safari.
