Citroen India recently launched a new top-spec Shine variant for the C3 hatchback’s naturally aspirated petrol engine options. The turbo-petrol engine didn’t get this variant at that time. But if you had your eyes set on the more powerful C3, we suggest you hold your purchase as the new top-spec variant is set to be launched soon. And it’s more than just convenience features; the entire turbo-petrol lineup will get enhanced safety features.

The C3 Turbo will get a new top-end Shine trim, which will add missing features such as a rear washer and wiper, 15-inch alloy rims, day/night IRVM, front foglamps and a parking camera. All good and welcome, but the bigger news that gets us excited is the addition of safety features that will be standard on all turbo-petrol variants. This includes:

  • Electronic stability control 

  • Hill hold assist 

  • Tyre pressure monitoring system 

All of these safety features are welcome, but we hope these features are offered standard across the board, including the eC3, making the overall package more rounded and appealing.

The C3 Turbo gets a 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Its entry-level powertrain is a 82PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit, teamed with a 5-speed manual.

The updated C3 Turbo is likely to command a premium over the current version that’s priced from Rs 8.43 lakh (ex-showroom). With these updated features, the hatch is now better shielded to take on its rivals like the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
