Citroen India has begun exports of the C3 hatchback to Nepal and has launched it in our neighbouring country from NPR 36.25 lakh. That’s an eye watering Rs 22.61 lakh (converted during the time of writing) when seen in INR. The C3 hatchback destined for Nepal markets is offered only with the naturally aspirated petrol engine and comes in two broad trims.

There aren’t any aesthetic changes to the model sold there when pitched against the C3 sold in India. It even gets a similar features list consisting of a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, manual AC, remote locking, power windows and steering-mounted audio controls. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

However, our friendly neighbours would have to deal with the fact that the recently introduced top-spec Shine trim isn’t offered in Nepal. That means bits like alloy wheels, front fog lamps, a rear parking camera and electronic adjustment for the ORVMs aren’t offered there.

The C3 in Nepal is offered only with the 82PS 1.2-litre petrol engine that’s paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. In India, customers also get the choice of a more powerful 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that’s mated to a six-speed stick shifter.

In India, the C3 is priced from Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom). And its rivals include models such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Punch as well as premium hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20.
