Citroen’s upcoming SUV will be called the C3 Aircross.
The SUV will share some cues with the C3 hatchback along with new styling elements as well.
Could get a tuned version of the C3’s 110PS turbo-petrol engine, along with an automatic transmission option.
Global premier is due on April 27, launch expected around mid-2023.
We know Citroen’s been busy. The carmaker has been cooking something for a while now - an SUV, and we know this courtesy of the myriad spied images that have surfaced up until now. But we now finally have a moniker for the upcoming SUV, which is based on the C3 hatchback. Fittingly, Citroen has christened it as the C3 Aircross.
The Aircross moniker is sort of a signature for Citroen and denotes the SUV character of its vehicles as seen on the C5 Aircross. Hence, a fitting suffix. Now we know that the C3 Aircross will be sharing its platform with the C3 hatchback, and the similarities will go beyond the name and platform.

Expect a similar overall design in terms of head- and taillight elements. That being said, the SUV will not only be longer, but from the looks of it, also seems wider than the hatchback we know. Previous spy shots reveal a distinctive grille design with a two-part front grille, which looks rather beefy even after the heavy camouflage.
To further differentiate between the two, the SUV, which is likely be a three-row offering, could to get flared wheel arches and side cladding, along with 4-split-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels that look premium (C3 only gets steel wheels).

Details are scarce at the moment, but the C3’s 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine could be at the helm of this SUV, and we also reckon it could boast a higher state of tune - 130PS. A six-speed manual will be offered, and an automatic transmission is also expected.

The cabin layout will also be the same and even the features should be more or less similar, and could include bits like a 10-inch infotainment, a rear parking camera, auto-folding ORVMs, six airbags, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

More details about the Citroen C3 Aircross will surface at its global premier, which is due in a week on April 27. It could go on sale post that, sometime around mid-2023, and prices are expected to start from around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Maruti Grand Vitara and will also be an alternative to the Kia Carens and Maruti XL6.
