Citroen India has launched the Basalt at an attractive starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can either reserve theirs online or at their nearest dealership for a token amount of Rs 11,000. In this story, we are going to take a look at the Basalt’s variant-wise engine options.
Citroen offers the Basalt SUV-coupe with two petrol engines: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2-litre turbo-petrol. While a manual gearbox comes as standard, the turbo-petrol engine can be had with an optional automatic. It comes in three broad trims: You, Plus and Max. Here’s a look at the detailed variant-wise engine options:

The Basalt’s 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol is available to buy only in the first two trims.
Meanwhile, you can’t have the turbo-petrol engine with the base model.
The mid-spec Plus variant comes with all three powertrain options.
The base engine option for the Citroen Basalt is the 82 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, teamed with a 5-speed manual. For customers seeking more power can opt for the 110 PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, teamed with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Apart from that, it is a more affordable option to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate.
