Skoda Octavia RS, a nameplate that needs no introduction! This performance sedan has long been known for offering surefooted performance and precise steering feedback. Recently, it made a much-awaited comeback on our shores as a CBU, priced at Rs 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). But here’s the catch: only 100 units were allocated to India for this calendar year, and they are already sold out! 

We recently got a chance to get behind the wheel of Skoda’s newest RS sedan, that too on India’s best driving road, i.e. the Buddh International Circuit. Here are 5 things we loved about it:

1) Design: Sporty Yet Timeless

It’s every bit a Skoda, classy, timeless, and elegant, thanks to its clean body lines. But wait, what really adds to the flavour are the sporty RS design touches that lend it an aggressive and head-turning stance. It simply looks hawt!  

Up front, it boasts Skoda’s signature butterfly grille, finished in gloss black and adorned with an RS badge for a sportier appeal. Sleek dual-pod Matrix LED headlights with V-shaped DRLs give the front an aggressive look. The silhouette is clean and streamlined, and yes, it sits lower than the regular Octavia, riding on 19-inch aero-styled alloy wheels. The red-painted brake callipers, part of the RS design package, provide it with an added flair. The LED taillights and gloss black lip spoiler complete the rear look, while the dual exhaust tips turn up the drama.

Under the hood, the Skoda Octavia RS houses a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which makes an impressive 265 PS and 370 Nm, and the power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG. These numbers translate into a quick 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 6.4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph. Behind the wheel, the power delivery feels strong and effortless.

3) Sharp Handling

The Octavia RS impresses with precise steering feedback and sharp, confident handling around the corners. There’s plenty of engineering wizardry underneath that makes this possible. The suspension has been tuned to be stiffer, and the steering has been calibrated for better agility. It also comes equipped with an electronic differential lock, further enhancing grip by sending power to the wheel with maximum traction, for quicker and more confident exits around the corner.

4) ⁠Spacious Family Sports Sedan

Well, it’s a fun-to-drive sedan, but that doesn’t mean it skimps on comfort. The Octavia RS offers generous second-row space, making it just as enjoyable for your family as it is for you behind the wheel. 

For convenience, it has adjustable headrests for all passengers and a 3-zone climate control. Other features on board the Octavia RS include a 13-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display, 3-zone climate control, a 12-speaker Canton sound system, powered front seats with heating, memory, and massage functions, heated ORVMs (outside rear view mirrors), a 15W wireless smartphone charger with cooling pad, and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate.

5) Generous Boot Space

What else makes the Skoda Octavia RS a complete family package is its generous boot loading capacity of 600 litres. From suitcases and duffel bags to travel baskets, there’s space for it all. So whether it’s a quick weekend escape or a long family road trip, there will be no compromise on space.
