This weekend’s race is the first for the Indian carmaker on its home turf, and here’s how the XUV400 EV commemorates the event

Hyderabad will host India’s first Formula E race this weekend on February 11. India’s only racing team, Mahindra Racing, will compete for the first time on its home turf at the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix, and to commemorate it, Mahindra has unveiled the XUV400 Formula Edition electric SUV.

Here’s all you need to know about the SUV:

1: Formula Edition special livery

The XUV400 EV’s exterior graphics are inspired by the livery of Mahindra’s Gen 3 race car. It has a beautful copper-coloured triangular decal on the bonnet patterned with Mahindra ‘Twin-peaks’ logos, extending to the floating roof as well. The decals on the rear doors are the same copper colour with more Mahindra logos, and there’s a deep-red sash at the rear fenders of the same shade as the Gen 3 race car’s rear quarters.

2: Other styling enhancements

Other than the racecar-themed paintwork, the XUV400 Formula Edition also has blacked-out wheels with dual-tone copper elements and a ‘Mahindra Racing’ badge placed at the C-pillar. Other trim elements, including the copper trim bits on the front bumper and sides, are the same as the standard XUV400 EV that you can buy.

Unfortunately, no. The XUV400 EV Formula Edition is meant to showcase the carmaker’s livery, so it doesn’t get any interior styling changes. The XUV400 EV offers features such as a sunroof, a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, connected car tech and six airbags.

The SUV’s 150PS e-motor helps it get from nought to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 150kmph. You can get the XUV400 EV in EC and EL variants with up to 357km and 456km of MIDC-claimed range.
