When Tata Motors took the wraps off the Curvv all-electric SUV-coupe concept, it was essentially the debut of the carmaker’s “Less-Is-More” design language as well as the Generation 2 architecture. But that’s not all that’s coming from the carmaker, as there will be a third-generation platform, which will be a dedicated EV platform

Speaking to ZigWheels, Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles , and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “This is the extreme form of generation two, which is a new body style and at the same time, pushes our powertrain enhancement and accreditation to its limit. It will have a body style with more differentiated interventions in the exterior elements, as well as interiors, which is different for an EV versus an ICE.”

Going by the above statement, while the Gen 2 platform is already set to give EVs their own identity apart from their ICE counterparts, models under the Gen 3 platform will have an even more pronounced identity of their own. That’s because they won't have an ICE counterpart like the Gen 2 models, since this platform will be an all-electric one. So that should allow for more freedom in making the optimal package for the Gen 3 EV.
That being said, we’re going to have to wait a while before we see Tata models under the Gen 3 platform become as the production-spec Curvv will show up in 2024 as an EV first before offering an ICE option. Before that, we’ll also be having two new EVs based on current ICE cars.

All this will be a part of a vast future roadmap from Tata Motors, with the carmaker slated to bring in 10 new products within a five-year timeframe. An average of two to three models per year will show up.
